In this book, my chapter contributes by offering a reflection born from my own story and the pauses that life has taught me to take.

From this experience, I share how simple mindfulness and breathing practices can transform our relationship with work and support mental health, presence, and balance in an increasingly fast-paced daily life.

About Maitê Castello

Maitê is passionate about supporting people in their processes of transformation and well-being.

She is a specialist in Mindfulness, Breathwork, and Holistic Human Development through IMTTA – International Meditation Teachers & Therapists Association, and a certified instructor from the SOMA BREATH Institute.

She holds a postgraduate degree in Neuroscience and Applied Psychology from Mackenzie and is certified as a CHO – Chief Happiness Officer by Reconnect | Happiness at Work & Human Sustainability.

Partner at Uno Desenvolvimento Humano, a company with the mission of serving as a bridge for awakening human potential, strengthening people and organizations to find their “middle path.”

She also works as a consultant and specialist in communication and content, holding a degree in Public Relations from Faculdade Cásper Líbero and a postgraduate degree in Communication and Market from FIA.

Additionally, she serves as a Mentor, certified by Crescimentum, Presenter, and Master of Ceremonies, with 17 years of experience in Corporate Communication in large companies.

When Pausing is a Strategy: Mindfulness and Breathing as a Path to Mental Health at Work

In this chapter, the author presents how small, conscious pauses, combining mindfulness and breathing techniques, can generate significant transformations in mental health and the work environment.

Based on neuroscience and presence practices, she shows how the simple act of breathing intentionally creates mental space, reduces stress, strengthens emotional clarity, and fosters connection with ourselves and others.

The narrative connects science, practice, and inspiration, inviting the reader to experience the power of mindfulness as a tool for balance and happiness in daily professional life.
