Culturally, we say that engineers are good with numbers but not with people… so how do you make an engineering role work that needs to focus on people?

Being an Occupational Safety Engineer is not so simple… We are trained and seen as technical professionals. Empathy and attention to others are not always part of an engineer’s literacy.

Being part of this work, which addresses such important contemporary issues, is a constant reminder that it is not the regulations that protect us—it is the relationships between people.

This does not only apply to industries. It applies to all operations. Even a small print shop serving local demands needs to understand that, more than complying with the law, respect and attentiveness toward employees must be as present as it is for clients. The diversity of perspectives within this mix makes the outcomes unique and encouraging.
