Chapter Theme

"HUMANIZED MANAGEMENT IN HEALTHCARE"

In this chapter titled "Humanized Management in Healthcare," Juliana shares her personal and professional journey, highlighting the challenges, overcoming obstacles, and transformations that led her to become a humanized manager in a hospital setting. Her story begins with pivotal moments in her life, such as the near paralysis she experienced at the age of 12 due to a cervical herniated disc, and the profound impact of caring for her grandmother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

These events shaped her choices, strengthening her to face adversity and guiding her toward a career in healthcare.

Her academic journey initially started in Nutrition, but was interrupted by the need to care for her grandmother. Eventually, she transitioned to Nursing, where she found her true calling. Over the years, Juliana worked both in patient care and in hospital management, teaching her the vital importance of human relationships in the workplace. Serving as a manager in hospitals in the Vale do Paraíba and São José dos Campos, leading a team of 400 employees, demanded not only emotional control but also the ability to balance moments of life and death with empathy and leadership.

The main focus of this chapter is humanized management and the search for balance in an increasingly digital and fast-paced world. Juliana shares how practicing self-care and personal reconnection—especially through her great passion for gastronomy—was crucial for maintaining her mental and emotional health in such a demanding work environment. The kitchen became her outlet, a space for renewal and self-discovery.

Through the lessons learned and her transition to gastronomy, she aims to inspire other healthcare professionals to find balance between their personal and professional lives, promoting a more humane and compassionate management style. The narrative also brings an inspiring story of her participation in the MasterChef program, alongside professionals who, like her, walked paths of overcoming and discovered new ways to thrive in the digital age, always focusing on health, well-being, and self-reflection.
